LYNCHNW FINISHES FAQ
Black Finishes
Blacksmith is a finish we do in-house that involves blasting the clip, then superheating it, then quenching it in oil. The result is a black finish that looks very similar to DLC. We've gotten good feedback from users about itās durability.
Service Black is
a finish we do in-house that involves blasting the clip, then
superheating it, then quenching it in oil. After this the clip is stonewashed and tumbled. The result is a battled black finish that is durable and "worn" looking.
Black Cerakote is
a finish we currently outsource. The clips are painted with Cerakote and cured to form a durable and smooth and dark black finish.
Dark Abyss is
a finish we do in-house. The clips are glass blasted then tumbled in a media that darkens them, giving them a dark charcoal semi-gloss/satin appearance.
Important Note: Please keep in mind that we do not guarantee that these finishes will perfectly match up with your knifeās hardware, scales, or blade. There are many variations of anodization out there. As an example, what Benchmade identifies as blue may not match our blue.
Maintenance: Anodized finishes may scratch and mark up easily. Please note that the natural characteristics of anodized titanium make it susceptible to oxidation (or āpatina-ingā) through contact with oils in your fingers and hands. The finish can be cleaned, buffed, and brightened up by using some Windex and a clean cotton towel.
Standard Anodized Colors
- Bronze Anodized
- Ice Blue Anodized
- Blue Anodized
- Blurple Fade Anodized (a blue to purple fade color offered for Spyderco clips)
- Purple Anodized
- Fade Anodized (Bronze to Blue Fade from clip hole to the tip of the clip. Because each part is anodized one at a time, they may not match the picture exactly and will vary from clip to clip.)
Special Anodized Colors
- Gold Anodized
- Pink Anodized
- Green Anodized
Important Note: Please keep in mind that we do not guarantee that these finishes will match up with your knifeās hardware, scales, or blade. We try our best to match popular and common finishes found on compatible knife models.
Maintenance: Some In House finishes may scratch and mark up easier than others, and will also dull, tarnish or āpatinaā through contact with skin oils, etc. The finish can be cleaned, buffed, and brightened up by using some Windex and a clean cotton towel.
Polished - A bright, high polished titanium finish, similar in appearance to stainless steel. This finish is more prone to mark and scratch with regular use.
Satin - A smooth, lightly sanded titanium finish, that matches up with many satin finished blades on the market.
Stonewashed - A brighter, more silver color that shows the titanium grain. This is currently our most popular and overall durable finish, that matches many stonewashed blades.
Beadblasted - A lighter gray finish with slight sparkle resulting form the blasting process. It is more susceptible to scratches and marks.
Sandwashed - A more durable medium grey color with a uniform matte finish.
Industrial Heat - A ānaturalā unfinished look like the Industrial finish, but with heat anodizing around the top of the clip. This finish is supposed to look rough (or āIndustrial) and ābeat upā, and thus is a very specific look, and not for everyone. If you like a ābattleā look, this finish may fit the bill. If you like your gear perfect and polished, this is not the finish you should choose. Each clip with this finish will vary in appearance.
Service Finishes - Darker matte finishes that are beadblasted, stonewashed, and then anodized to achieve a richer and darker anodized color. Both durable and rugged.
Our standard Cerakote color options are a matte finish, not a high gloss, though we may do some runs that include glossier Cerakote color finishes.
Note: At times we may make special limited runs and drops of other Cerakote color ways besides those listed and pictured.
